When a family makes the big decision to get a new dog or cat, they often turn to newspapers or the internet to find dog breeders. It is exciting to bring home a new puppy or kitten full of energy and ready to play. However a new pet isn't always the best route to go. You can find an adult dog or cat, who is loving, already house trained, and ready for a good home.
Animal shelters and rescues have numerous dogs and cats who need a home. Many will let you know how the animal reacts around other pets and children so there are no surprises for you or your new pet. When you adopt a dog or cat there is an adoption fee that must be paid. Generally that fee includes spay/neuter costs. Other incentives might also be included such as the first rabies shot or an ID tag.

Address:Three years ago we adopted a kitten from the Owensboro Humane Society. We call her Friday because she was adopted on a Friday(and because we are not very creative). She used the litter box from day one, is very friendly to everyone, and even went through a phase as a kitten when she would play fetch. Also, Friday is a very healthy cat. She hasn't been sick once!
