Nylon or Leather Collars:
To determine the proper size, measure the circumference of pet's neck and add 2". 1/2"-5/8" width is best for puppies and small dogs. 5/8"-3/4" width is best for small to medium dogs. 1"-1 1/4" width is best for large dogs.
Prong Chain Training Collars:
To determine the proper size, measure the circumference of pet's neck and add 1". Prong Collars should fit snug and high on the dog's neck. Millimeter (mm) size refers to the thickness of the wire. For a longer collar in the thickness that you prefer, add extra links.
Choke Chain Training Collars:
To determine the proper size, measure the circumference of pet's neck and add 2"-3". The effectiveness of the correction will be diminished if the collar is too loose.
Sizing for Coats, Sweaters, Shirts and Safety Vests:
Measure length of pet's back from the base of the neck to the base of the tail. If the measurement is between sizes, we recommend going up one size. Also, if pet has a stout build, a deep chest, or is overweight, we recommend going up a minimum of one size for proper fit. If the dog is long-backed, like a Dachshund, a smaller size is recommended.
Harnesses and Flotation Vests:
Measure girth around the broadest part of the chest and add 2".
Midriff Style Jackets and Shirts:
For shorter midriff style garments, measure the length of pet's back from base of neck to base of tail. Due to the unique styling of midriff garments, they may sit higher on the dog's back.
When dog is laying down, measure pet's body length from base of tail to tip of nose, and add a minimum of 9"-12". For bolster or snuggle style beds, add a minimum of 5"-7".
Measure dog's height to the shoulders, and length from chest to rear of leg, then add 4"-6" to each measurement. See below for estimations by breed. For approximation only.
